From A (Mostly*) Balanced Perspective
Living a balanced life does not mean a life that is fair, even, completely rational or free from suffering. It means acknowledging that you are a person with physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects.
It means you may have your peeves and your passions, your problems and your potential. It means you have to be okay with the uncomfortable parts, so watch out if your getting too comfortable! (It won't last anyway).
Having a spiritual perspective, through a specific religious faith,
or a sense that you are a part of something larger, provides a ballast and a sense of perspective. Whatever your faith means to you, a particular religion, a longing for peace, a feeling of purpose, or sense of awe, your spiritual self is important.
Physical health is important, but that does not mean to the exclusion of everything else. Good physical health is a blessing, and may a product of genetics and or hard work, but there are countless examples of people with physical problems who manage to reach or exceed their goals. On the other hand, exercise, eating right are important for everyone.
Your social self helps to nurture your individuality and potential. Social self is not about being popular or outgoing. It means you are are a person, part of the human race - you need time with others, and time by yourself. Your healthy social self also develops empathy, and a sense of belonging.
Mental and emotional health (it can be hard to separate the two, but they are separate) does not mean you will live a problem free life. It means you can some protections and support to get you through the muck and enjoy the good moments. Being able to enjoy the moment, learning to accept suffering, living with memories, solving problems, self awareness are some of the attributes of mental and emotional health.
